About Alice

I’m a native of Bordeaux, France, who moved to Essex last year, bringing with me a deep love for language and culture. I initially trained as a teacher in France, but my career path took me in a different direction, and for the past 10 years, I’ve worked as a social worker supporting children and families. Having recently settled in Essex, I’m excited to reconnect with my love for education and share my knowledge with others. My background in social work has given me unique insights into communication, patience, and understanding, which I bring into my teaching style. I'm eager to help students grow, not only in language but also in confidence and cultural awareness! - DBS checked (Disclosure and Barring Service).

About the lesson

I hold a degree in Literature and Translation. I’m able to teach children, complete beginners, and intermediate to advanced students, adapting my lessons to suit each level and learning style. Whether it's through sports, film, food, the news... I love incorporating my student's interests into lessons to make them more exciting and relatable. I believe learning a language is about more than just vocabulary—it's about connecting with culture, history, and the people behind the language. I can answer any questions you have about French culture, customs, or even day-to-day life in France. Let’s embark on this learning journey together :)

As an absolute beginnner to the French language I was a little nervous and didn't know where to start. I took a punt on Alice after liaising with her first. She was friendly, positive and professional. The lessons were much the same. I was very impressed by her patience and understanding of how I felt. My progress was far quicker than I expected and I put that down to Alice. Feeling comfortable with someone who really knows their stuff makes for a great environment to learn. Can't recommend her enough
