About Sarah
I’ve been playing classical guitar for 18 years and have had experiences in it in the US, Belgium, and Syria, where I grew up. I've been teaching in-person since 2017 and online since 2020. Recently, I received my Master of Arts in Music, specializing in Classical Guitar Performance at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussels, under the guidance of Antigoni Goni. Prior, I received my Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar Performance and a minor in Performing Arts Management from the Hartt School of Music, Dance, and Theatre, under the guidance of Christopher Ladd. Throughout my education, I have learned skills such as performing, teaching pedagogy, building a musical career, communicating with an audience, playing in chamber music ensembles, Music Theory, Piano, Ear Training, Arranging, music technology, and much more. I performed in masterclasses for renowned artists such as Oscar Ghiglia, Leo Brouwer, Richard Provost, Peter Clemente, Andrew York, Jason Vieaux, Colin Davin, Xuefei Yang, Scott Tennant, Brasil Duo, Xavier Jara, Tengyue Zhang, Dušan Bogdanović, Celil Refik Kaya, Radoš Malidžan, Atanas Ourkouzounov, Vojislav Ivanovic, Eva Beneke, Augustin Wiedemann, Patrick Kearny, and Tariq Harb. In addition to performing the classics, I was a member of the ensembles that performed the world premieres of Clarice Assad’s composition “Dusty Grooves” (2017) and Nikita Koshkin’s “Storm Warning” (2020) at the New England Guitar Ensemble Festival held by the Boston Classical Guitar Society. Most recently (2022+), I developed an enormous passion for arranging soundtracks for various guitar ensemble settings. Other than playing solo repertoire, I'm an active Chamber Musician as a member of the guitar duo, Duo Hygge, with Mexican guitarist Shaí Vertty. In addition, I played in masterclasses for the PRISM Quartet and Cuarteto Latinoamericano with American flutist John Ray. I also premiered “14th insomnia” (2021) by Quentin Ballivet with Clarisse Gomes (flute) and Tadeja Malc (clarinet). I was one of the 10 Americans chosen for the Prestigious Belgian American Educational Foundation Fellowship for the academic year 2021-2022.

Other than playing music, I’ve always found it very fulfilling to share my love of music through teaching it to others. I like to create a nurturing environment that is also very fun and satisfying for the students. I am offering lessons to anyone, regardless of previous experience. I've had experience teaching students who've been playing for years, as well as students who have never read standard music notation or held a guitar before. Music is a universal language and I would love to share it with as many people as possible.
Not only will the students learn the instrument, they will learn the basics of Ear Training and Music Theory as well. If the students want to have fun and be challenged, then please consider taking a lesson with me. I am more than willing to offer a trial lesson for anyone who is on the fence about taking lessons. One of my strengths as a teacher is respecting and adapting to the student's needs. Furthermore, I value creating balance between teaching technique and musicianship in order to be a well-rounded musician. I believe that these skills will be valuable to students who want to pursue a career in music in the long run and to students who want to play music recreationally. My number one goal and dream as your teacher is to help you channel your expression onto the instrument and provide you with a fun outlet to take a break from life's insanity. :)

Perfect! I had an excellent first lesson. Sarah explained in detail how to hold the guitar and showed me that by doing so the left had position is an ideal place to play the finger board without straining the wrist. I look forward to the next lessons.
