About Fiona
My lessons create a dynamic, discovery-based environment where maths truly comes alive. I focus on bringing concepts to life through practical applications of algebra, visualisations in calculus, and hands-on geometric constructions. Probability becomes exciting with playful games that make learning both fun and meaningful.
I believe the strongest understanding comes from building a solid conceptual framework through engaging activities. Rather than memorising formulas, students explore how and why maths works. Real-world examples make abstract ideas tangible and relevant.
I provide a supportive space where questions are encouraged and exploration is celebrated. Whether tackling challenging problems or uncovering patterns, students are guided to develop confidence and sharpen their skills. I am a Maths tutor with over 10 years of experience and an MSc in Mathematical Modelling. My passion lies in applying mathematics to the social sciences, where numbers reveal patterns in human behaviour. I focus on network theory and agent-based modelling to explore how social structures form and evolve. These tools allow me to study how information spreads, how diseases propagate, and how collective behaviours emerge.
I love guiding students to see how quantitative methods can unlock insights into human systems. In my lessons, I combine theory with practical examples, making abstract concepts tangible and relevant. I encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and exploration, helping students connect mathematical models to real-life social phenomena.
