About Aleaha

Hi, I’m Aleaha! I work in book publishing and marketing at Simon & Schuster, but I’ve always had a love for math and for helping others feel confident in it. I’ve been tutoring since high school and continued through college, supporting middle schoolers and early high schoolers with everything from fractions and algebra to geometry and beyond. As a middle child and natural listener, I’ve always had a knack for meeting people where they’re at. Whether I’m guiding someone through a tricky math problem or DJ’ing playlists on a road trip with friends, I love connecting with people, reading their energy, and encouraging them to grow. Tutoring is especially rewarding for me because I get to watch students go from discouraged to confident — and celebrate with them when the “aha!” moments click into place.

About the lesson

My approach is built on confidence, patience, and uncovering the missing puzzle pieces. I believe most math struggles aren’t about the current topic — they usually trace back to a small fundamental detail that didn’t quite stick years ago. My job is to create a safe space for students to make mistakes (because mistakes are part of learning!), while also gently digging into where those foundational gaps might be.

Once we identify what’s missing, we rebuild that foundation together so the new concept makes sense. Sometimes it takes time, but it always happens — and those breakthroughs bring me just as much joy as they do my students. Ultimately, my goal is not just to teach math, but to help students rediscover confidence in themselves as learners.

In our sessions, I like students to bring their homework so we can work through real examples together. We usually start with three problems: the first, I guide closely; the second, I help a little less; and by the third, they’re leading the way. This gradual release builds their confidence and arithmetical instinct.
