About Ke
My previous experience was mainly teaching Chinese students English. I have only tutored a handful of students Mandarin but one of them passed HSK Level 4 three yeas ago. Also, I am teaching my partner Mandarin, who is a literature graduate from Oxford. As a native English speaker, he can best describe difficulties in learning a second langauge, so we always work out proper solutions together. Our great mind Confucius put it, we should draw inferences about other cases from one instance. So I believe my previous experience can always benefit current teaching methods.

I was born in China and lived most life there. This means my Mandarin is authentic and up-to-date. Though I am living in London, I still keep up with news and buzz words in China. Also, I have accomplished my MA Conference Interpreting, so I have a professional command of both languages. I used to teach IELTS (Internal English Language Test System) in China and as such have my own teaching style. I always customise tutorials for VIP students.
For beginners, I will go through Pinyin (phonetics) and four tones thourouly and practice them with you all the time. I will give a dictation quiz to you at the beginning of each tutorial. Reading and writing characters are harder so we will start them later.
For intermediate learners, I suppose you can talk about daily topics. So I will give you a topic to do research and help you build up your own glossary. After each tutorial, you will be asked to write about the topic we have talked about.
For advanced speakers, if your aim is to get a certificate, please show me your textbook and let me know your goal.
