About Somi
I am a dedicated piano tutor with over 6 years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages, from school learners to college students and working professionals. I believe that learning piano should be structured, enjoyable, and meaningful.
My teaching approach emphasises clear communication, patience, and personalised instruction. I assess each student’s abilities, learning style, and goals, and create lessons that focus on building strong fundamentals, including finger technique, hand coordination, rhythm, and sight-reading.
I also teach music theory, ear training, and rhythm exercises to help students develop complete musicianship. Lessons are engaging and interactive, often incorporating song practice, creative exercises, and performance opportunities. I excel at simplifying complex concepts, motivating students, and helping them develop confidence, consistency, and disciplined practice habits.
My ultimate aim is to create a supportive and inspiring learning environment where students feel encouraged to explore music and achieve their full potential.

I listen carefully to students’ goals, challenges, and musical tastes, and use this to make lessons meaningful and motivating.
Creativity plays a big role—I encourage students to improvise, compose their own pieces, and explore various musical styles. Flexibility ensures lessons match the student’s pace and learning style.
I also teach relevant subjects like music theory, rhythm practice, sight-reading, and ear development to strengthen overall musicianship. My aim is to make each lesson enjoyable while building confidence and skill.
