About Sam
I'm Sam, a first-year BSc Management student at the London School of Economics — one of the world's leading universities for business and social sciences. I achieved A*A*A* at A-Level in Mathematics, Physics, and Economics, along with 10 A*s at GCSE, so I know exactly what it takes to perform at the highest level in these subjects and what examiners are looking for.
At LSE, I've thrown myself into university life both academically and beyond. I lead the Industry-Focused team at one of the university's largest investment clubs, where I manage a portfolio covering the biotech and defence sectors, and I co-founded Catalyst M&A Group, a student publication analysing major corporate transactions. These experiences have deepened my understanding of economics and quantitative reasoning in ways that directly enrich how I teach — I don't just explain theory, I can show students how it plays out in the real world.
Outside of academics, I'm a committed athlete. I compete for LSE Men's Football, I'm an active runner with a sub-21-minute 5K, and I hold a 1st Dan black belt in karate. I've also completed the Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award. I think the discipline, goal-setting, and resilience that come from sport translate directly into how I approach tutoring — I understand what it means to work towards a target and I bring that energy to every lesson.
I'm originally from Derby, and I know first-hand that getting into a top university isn't about having every advantage — it's about working smart, staying consistent, and having the right guidance at the right time. That's exactly what I aim to provide. Whether a student needs help mastering integration, writing a first-class economics essay, or putting together a personal statement that stands out, I'm here to make the process clearer, less stressful, and genuinely enjoyable.

My approach is built around making sure students don't just memorise content, but actually understand why things work the way they do. I've found that once a student grasps the underlying logic — whether that's the intuition behind differentiation or why firms behave differently under oligopoly — exam technique follows naturally.
Every lesson starts by identifying exactly where the gaps are. I work through concepts using clear, structured explanations, then reinforce them with exam-style questions so students get comfortable applying what they've learnt under timed conditions.
For Maths, I place heavy emphasis on problem-solving technique and building fluency with unfamiliar questions.
For Economics, I focus on developing strong diagram work, evaluative chains of reasoning, and the essay structures that examiners reward.
For GCSE Physics, I make abstract topics tangible with real-world examples and drill the calculation methods that come up repeatedly.
Lessons typically run for one hour, though I'm happy to adjust to 90 minutes for students preparing for upcoming exams or working through particularly challenging material.
I achieved A*A*A* at A-Level in Mathematics, Physics, and Economics alongside 10 A*s at GCSE, and I'm currently studying BSc Management at the London School of Economics.
Beyond academics, I lead an investment team at an LSE finance society and co-founded a student M&A publication, so I bring practical insight to Economics and quantitative subjects that goes well beyond the textbook.
For admissions tutoring, I offer support with personal statements, university selection, and interview preparation — drawing directly on my own experience gaining a place at the LSE. I'm well-placed to help students applying to competitive universities across business, economics, and social science programmes.
My lessons are suited to A-Level Maths and Economics students, GCSE Physics and Maths students, and sixth-formers preparing university applications. I work with students of all confidence levels — whether you're aiming to push from a B to an A*, or building foundations from scratch.
