About Heather
I am a student - studying English literature and creative writing - online with The Open University. I am 19 so I am still very familiar with the experience of studying English in school, having taken it all the way to Advanced Higher in my sixth year. Though my in-depth knowledge is limited to particular literary works, I have gained valuable skills in analysing and understanding texts in general, which I am keen to pass on to students who are looking for some extra tuition in the subject. I would prefer to correspond over email, therefore my tuition would be cheap and could work around your schedule.

I would be willing to mould my teaching around the topics that you most need to focus on - whether it be close reading, analysis of literature, or creative writing. One major way that I could be of help is to proof read any essays before you hand them to your teacher. Not only could I try to spot any spelling or grammar mistakes that you may have missed, but could offer suggestions to the style of writing such as vocabulary and phrasing. One thing that I also found helpful when I studied English in school was learning a variety of complex literary techniques. This means that even if the text or question does not work in your favour, you still have the opportunity to express your knowledge of the subject.

I would prefer to undertake my tutoring via email, and therefore will charge at a fluctuating rate, averaging at £7 per week, based on the frequency of our correspondence.
