About Joe
My name is Joe Langley, and I have an undergraduate degree in literature from the University of Sheffield and a Master's in Modern and Contemporary Literature from the University of Edinburgh, where I completed a 15,000-word dissertation. During both my degrees, I have studied texts ranging from classical, modern and current literature, alongside optional modules that focused on American literature, Japanese literature and creative writing.
I have a strong understanding of high- and close-level analysis that is needed in A-level, with a drive to understand what draws the individual student to their texts. I am experienced in long-form writing, having completed two dissertations, and have published various journalistic articles online.

Personal, in-depth, tailored lessons in a friendly environment, focused on exploring the most engaging parts of the text to help the student cultivate their enjoyment, passion and want to do well in their work. Spend time to spark students' creative and genuine interest in the text so they feel comfortable and confident.
Introductory sessions spent time understanding students' own approach to learning, with every session comparing work to the specific mark scheme to identify improvements. Primarily cultivated for A-level students, with help with coursework and long-form written analysis in 1-hour weekly sessions. It will include a mix of close reading, interactive writing sessions, and study habit techniques and ideas suitable for students.
