About Adit
I'll be honest, because that works out best! I have only had a year of experience teaching English (grammar, spoken, written and literature) to students between the age of 15-20. I have recently graduated with a liberal arts literature degree and I am a confidently so, a proficient speaker and writer. What I can do for you, is to keep you in touch with what sort of English works best today! In different spaces, ages and situations, we require different phrasings, words and tones. Active or passive? Pretty or Ravishing? Equality or Equity? Corporate Formal or Marketing Public? There's much to explore and much to feel comfortable in your very own literary shoes.

I have recently graduated with a liberal arts literature degree that exposed me to not only a panoply of literary styles but also linguistics, poetry, media theories, translation studies and spoken skills. I believe in order to get an advanced grasp of the language entirely, one must approach it in a multi-faceted manner. I would largely classify sessions for two categories of learners on the basis of prior experience of peer tutoring English students. A) You are a beginner (in incipient phases/preparing for school or early college level English/ require English for daily conversation) B) You are an intermediate who wishes to achieve fluency and confidence in rhetoric (working professional, in humanities, public speaking) Depending on what category you fall into (or if you fall in between those two somewhere), I can mold the content of the classes. Largely however, the course would be divided into sessions that would focus on the following activities amongst other exercises i) Expanding Lexicon (Learning proverbs, idioms, contemporary references from pop culture, regional vocabulary, advanced adjectives and verbs, etymologies) ii) Debates on relevant topics to practice efficient speech, critical thinking, crisp delivery, organization of thoughts and use of daily new vocabulary iii) Practicing conversations through skits/recreating film/tv scenes with creative improvisations iv) Reading short stories and news articles v) Writing what you like most and exploring the art of self-expression with language as merely a medium What's different about me? I don't treat language as a separate system from life. It is connected to histories, geographies and stories of who we are. It sounds quite cinematic and cheesy, but I can try and make you find what part of English can touch your heart. I'm kind, patient and proactive in terms of trying new ways to teach and learn.
