About Rob

I’m a licensed 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic with extensive hands-on experience in commercial refrigeration and HVAC. I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside and be trained by some of the most experienced and respected technicians in the trade, learning practical skills and lessons that can only come from years in the field. I’ve worked on major commercial refrigeration systems and for some of the biggest names in the industry, including supermarket and rack refrigeration applications. My experience has given me a strong understanding of both the technical side of refrigeration and what it takes to succeed as an apprentice and build a long-term career in the trade.

About the lesson

I offer personalized 1-on-1 mentorship for anyone interested in starting a career in commercial refrigeration, particularly those looking to enter the 313A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic trade.

With hands-on experience in commercial refrigeration, supermarket rack systems, mechanical HVAC, and field service, I can provide practical guidance that goes beyond what you typically learn from a textbook. My goal is to help you understand what the trade is really like and give you the knowledge and confidence to take the next step.

Our sessions can cover how to find and approach potential employers, what companies look for in first-year apprentices, union versus non-union opportunities, tools and equipment you'll actually need, what to expect on your first day and during your first year, and how to work effectively with experienced technicians.

I can also walk you through fundamental refrigeration concepts and help you understand components and systems such as compressors, condensers, evaporators, TXVs, refrigeration controls, defrost systems, piping, and supermarket rack systems.

Whether you're considering refrigeration as a career, preparing for an apprenticeship interview, starting your first year, or simply want an experienced mechanic to answer your questions, I'll tailor the session to your specific situation.

My goal isn't simply to teach you theory. It's to help you understand the trade, avoid common beginner mistakes, and develop a practical roadmap for becoming a successful refrigeration mechanic.
