About Louis
I’m Louis, a fluent Spanish speaker and dedicated language tutor based in Sheffield. I hold a First‑class BA in History and Spanish from the University of Manchester and an MA in Classics and Ancient History, and I bring several years of one‑to‑one tutoring and peer‑mentoring experience to every lesson. I teach beginners through advanced learners, including GCSE, A‑Level and DELE preparation, and I also offer relaxed, conversation‑focused sessions for adult learners.
I progressed from school Spanish to degree level and completed a year abroad, so I understand the full learning journey and the assessment processes students face. My private tutoring work has focused on exam technique, clear grammar explanations, and building spoken confidence; I’ve supported KS3–KS5 students, helped learners with SEND, and run regular weekly sessions that produce steady, measurable progress.
Beyond tutoring, I’ve coordinated peer‑mentoring schemes and wellbeing initiatives at university, which taught me how to support students academically and pastorally. My international work experience in Barcelona strengthened my practical Spanish, translation skills, and professional approach to teaching. I combine academic rigour with a calm, encouraging style so students feel safe to make mistakes and confident to improve.
Lessons are always personalised, structured, and goal‑driven: we set clear objectives, practise speaking, simplify grammar into memorable steps, and track progress with short assessments. Outside teaching I enjoy creative crafts and community projects, and I bring that same creativity and patience into lessons to make learning enjoyable and sustainable. If you want a reliable, professional tutor who helps you build real confidence in Spanish, I’d be glad to work with you.

Teaching Methodology
I’m Louis. My lessons integrate communicative practice with concise, targeted grammar instruction and exam-oriented techniques. They are task-based, personalized, and grounded in research: we engage in authentic speaking activities, focus on the specific grammar and vocabulary you need, and use spaced retrieval with immediate feedback to promote lasting progress.
Typical Lesson Outline (60 minutes)
Warm‑up & goal check (5–10 mins) — quick conversation or review.
Focused input (10–15 mins) — clear micro‑grammar or vocabulary explanation.
Guided practice (15 mins) — controlled exercises to build accuracy.
Communicative task (15 mins) — role‑play, discussion, or exam task to use language.
Feedback & homework (5 mins) — corrections, takeaways, and a short task to consolidate.
Assessment and Progress
Regular checks: mini‑quizzes, speaking recordings, and short tests.
Personalised plan: clear objectives, tracked milestones, and adaptable pacing.
Exam prep: simulated tasks and mark‑scheme awareness for GCSE, A‑Level and DELE.
Practical Information
Materials: authentic texts, audio, past papers and bespoke worksheets.
Professionalism: lessons start on time, are planned in advance, and include follow‑up notes. I have an enhanced DBS certificate.
Approach: Calm, encouraging, and results‑driven — errors are opportunities to learn and improve.

Louis was kind, patient and knowledgeable tutor when he taught me Spanish
Louis really helped solidify my knowledge surrounding my A-level history course and offered helpful advice for essay planning and writing. It is thanks to him I scored an A* at A-level.
