About Timothy

There is a chronic shortage of GOOD Physics teachers worldwide. 30+ years of Physics teaching with great examination results has made me realise I am part of this select group.

I gained Qualified Teacher Status in 1987 and taught Physics from the very start. As I progressed through my career I have achieved Lead Practitioner and SEND qualifications.

I have led departments, helped start two new independent international school Science Departments, acted as an Education Advisor to the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and now am an Education Consultant helping schools needing a Physics and Science teacher in the short to medium term.

Students with educational and other special needs are particularly welcome: I view autism and ADHD as skills that can enhance the student's ability in Physics: they just need to be tutored in a way they understand.

In short, I adapt my teaching to how students learn: I do NOT expect students to adapt to how I teach.

I have taken two sabbaticals into the "real" world: a year off to learn to drive buses and coaches (in homage to my parents who met "on the buses") and to work as senior management on an American summer camp.

I am 65 and proud. It is said that you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. Well, this "old dog" can not only learn new tricks, he can teach them. Syllabi are constantly changing: I am always up to date.

I met Tim whilst working with him but approached him as I needed a tutor for my daughter. He got to know her and through her Maths strength worked out the best way to approach her learning and revision.
Although this was GCSE he got her a 8/7 when her predicted was 6/5.
She would not have achieved those higher grades without Tim.
