About Matthew

I am a dedicated and reliable tutor who is committed to helping students achieve their full potential. As a current student studying Maths, Economics, and Physics at an advanced level, I have a strong and up-to-date understanding of the GCSE curriculum and exam expectations.

Having recently completed my own GCSEs, I know exactly what examiners are looking for and the most effective strategies to secure top grades. I have consistently performed well in my studies and have experience supporting other students, helping them improve both their confidence and academic performance.

I take a professional and structured approach to every lesson, ensuring sessions are well-prepared, focused, and tailored to each student’s needs. I am patient, approachable, and committed to creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress.

My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to build their confidence and independent learning skills, so they can succeed both in exams and beyond.

About the lesson

My approach to tutoring is centred around building confidence, understanding, and long-term academic success. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style to suit each individual’s needs, pace, and goals.

Techniques and Teaching Methodology
I focus on breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable steps and using real exam-style questions to reinforce learning. I combine explanation, guided practice, and independent application to ensure students fully understand each concept. Regular questioning, active recall, and spaced repetition are key techniques I use to help students retain information effectively. I also place strong emphasis on exam technique, helping students understand how to structure answers to achieve higher marks.

Typical Lesson Length
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, which allows enough time to cover content in depth while keeping students engaged. Longer sessions (90 minutes) are available for more intensive revision when needed.

Qualifications and Experience
I am currently a student studying Maths, Economics, and Physics at an advanced level, with strong GCSE results across core subjects. Having recently completed GCSEs myself, I have a clear understanding of current exam board requirements and what it takes to achieve top grades. I also have experience supporting other students with their revision, helping them improve both their confidence and performance.

Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are ideal for KS3 and GCSE students (Years 7–11), particularly those aiming to improve their grades in Maths and core academic subjects. Whether a student is struggling with the basics or aiming for top grades (7–9), I tailor each session to help them reach their full potential.
