Hi, I'm Matthew
Background:
A levels - 3A* (Maths, Chem, Bio) & 1A (AS Further Maths)
Place at Imperial to study medicine
Teaching style:
I aim to allow you to UNDERSTAND the subject you are trying to learn about. This is a far more effective way of learning compared to trying to purely memorise everything. It is also more useful, as you can then apply your knowledge to a wide variety of problems. To improve your understanding I aim to ask leading questions were possible to help you figure things out and understand them in the way which works best for you.
I think a good analogy for explaining knowledge, is a tree. Imagine the leaves are the information that you need to know, and the trunk & branches are the structure you gain from understanding how things link together. With out the structure of the trunk and branches, the leaves are left on the floor in a confusing pile, and that's no good for learning. However with trunk & branches, you get a tree which is much more effective as everything is organised. With this you can see how everything is linked together, leading to a better and deeper understanding.
