About Priyanka
I have always been someone who asks “but why?” rather than simply accepting an answer. That is probably why History and Politics became two of my favourite subjects — there is always another perspective to consider, an argument to challenge, or a connection that is easy to miss at first.
I recently completed my A Levels and am now taking a gap year before pursuing a career in law. Studying History and Politics has played a big part in developing the way I think, particularly when it comes to questioning evidence, weighing competing arguments and forming my own conclusions. These are skills I genuinely enjoy using, and I want my students to experience that side of the subjects too.
Outside academics, I have trained in Bharatanatyam for over 12 years, which has taught me a great deal about discipline, patience and being willing to keep working at something that does not come naturally at first. I bring that same mindset to tutoring. I do not expect a student to understand everything immediately, and I believe struggling with something is often where the most useful learning happens.
I also remember what it feels like to sit on the other side of the desk. I know how frustrating it can be to understand a topic but still not know how to turn that knowledge into a strong essay, or to look at a question and have no idea where to begin. That is the part I particularly enjoy helping with.
For me, tutoring is not about giving students a model answer to memorise. It is about helping them develop the confidence to think for themselves, ask better questions and eventually look at a difficult question and think, “I know how to tackle this.”

I am a gap-year student who recently completed my A Levels, achieving an A in History and a B in Politics. I currently tutor Year 12 and Year 13 students in A-Level History and Politics, with particular experience in AQA History topics including The Age of the Crusades and The Making of Modern Britain, as well as Edexcel Politics. I can also support students with History coursework and NEA preparation.
My lessons are flexible rather than following a rigid structure. I first take the time to understand how each student learns, identify their strengths and pinpoint the areas they find challenging. I then use their strengths as a foundation to tackle their weaknesses, challenging them positively and helping them turn those weaknesses into areas of confidence.
I place a strong emphasis on exam technique, analysis and application. Rather than simply telling students what they need to memorise, I help them understand how to use their knowledge effectively: how to approach questions, develop arguments, evaluate different interpretations, structure essays and make their answers more analytical. Where a student needs to strengthen their understanding of the content itself, I use clear analytical notes, explanations and additional resources to make revision more manageable and purposeful.
Lessons typically last one hour, although I am happy to adapt the pace and focus depending on the student's needs. Some lessons may be heavily exam-focused, while others may concentrate on building a strong understanding of a particular topic before applying that knowledge to exam questions.
Most importantly, I do not believe that grades are the only measure of successful learning. My aim is for students to genuinely understand why something happened, how an argument can be developed and why a particular answer is stronger than another. These are skills that extend beyond A Levels and can continue to benefit students at university and in their future careers.
Having recently gone through the A-Level experience myself, I understand how overwhelming the jump from simply knowing the content to actually using it effectively in an exam can feel. I aim to make that process clearer, more manageable and, ultimately, more rewarding for my students.
