About Fraser

I am a recent student looking to give lessons to young people such as myself with a passion for history.

I've given lessons to younger people aged 12-19 for a couple of years in the Air Cadets in a variety of topics. As a result, they have all gone on to develop their abilities and are now able to teach me a few things too!

My experience comes from history being my passion, as I have indulged myself in military history and mythology since I was 5, and have travelled to all kinds of historical sites in Cyprus, Greece, Belgium, France, Britain, Australia, and hope to go to many more!

About the lesson

Hi there! I'm a recently finished A-level student from Nottinghamshire aiming to give assistance to GCSE and A-level students studying history. At A-level, I studied Russian history from 1917-1953, and Tudor history (1485-1603), however, my main passions lie in military history, particularly Ancient, 20th century, the Napoleonic wars, and British military history. Great for topics such as Communist Russia, Hitler's Germany, Germany from 1918-1939, Britain and the First World War, the Cold war, the Korean war, the Vietnam war, and the Tudors.

Unlike some school or college teachers, I am fully aware of the troubles you may have with your learning as I was recently in your place, and so you can rely on me to be much more understanding with any questions or issues you may have.

My teaching method is a much more relaxed one which is far more oriented at getting you to ask the questions. There's nothing worse than a teacher who lectures you whilst you sit there confused - I've been there! So I'm well open to a simple chat about a certain topic, or giving a breakdown of a specific event or time, or an in-depth discussion about a finer point - such as the Russian Civil War or the Battle of Britain, for example.

I am a firm believer in the belief that every individual has a different learning method, some people are best at just reading information or looking at something, others are better at being told, and some are best at getting hands on and teaching themselves. I'm a mix of the last two, but I am well versed to identifying these different types of learner and adapting to their style.

Furthermore, I am capable of helping young people who happen to have dyslexia or struggle to digest information, I found it very difficult to learn during my GCSE's and have taught many people with such issues in the air cadets within a classroom and 1-to-1.
