About Prem

I am an experienced Computer Science educator specialising in IB, A-Level, GCSE and IGCSE Computer Science.

I currently teach and support students following international and British curricula, including IB, AQA, OCR, Edexcel and Cambridge.

I work with students at different ability levels — from those who find Computer Science difficult to high-achieving students aiming for grades 8–9, A/A* or IB 6–7.

My teaching style is simple, structured and student-centred. I break difficult concepts into smaller steps and explain WHAT something is, WHY it is used and HOW it works, using real-life examples and examination-style questions.

I specialise in Computer Science theory, Python, Java, object-oriented programming, algorithms, pseudocode, databases, SQL, computer architecture, networks, cybersecurity and problem-solving.

I also support students with IB Computer Science IA and Extended Essay guidance, as well as A-Level and GCSE NEA projects. My role is to guide students in understanding requirements, developing their own ideas, improving programming skills and producing work that remains genuinely their own.

I particularly enjoy helping students who say:

“I understand the topic, but I don’t know how to answer the exam question.”

“I know the basics of Python, but I struggle to solve programming problems.”

“I don’t understand pseudocode.”

“I don’t know how to start my IA or NEA.”

My goal is not just to help students complete a lesson or homework task. I want them to become confident enough to solve problems independently and perform strongly in their examinations.

I make Computer Science simple, structured and exam-focused.

My lessons are designed for students who may understand a topic in class but struggle to apply their knowledge to examination questions, programming tasks or coursework.

I teach concepts step by step using simple explanations, real-life examples, diagrams and exam-style questions. Rather than asking students to memorise definitions, I help them understand WHAT a concept means, WHY it is used and HOW it works.

I support students studying:

• IB Diploma Computer Science – SL & HL
• A-Level Computer Science – AQA, OCR and other UK boards
• GCSE Computer Science – AQA, OCR and Edexcel
• IGCSE Computer Science – Cambridge and Edexcel
• Python programming
• Java and Object-Oriented Programming
• Algorithms and pseudocode
• Databases and SQL
• Computer systems and architecture
• Networks and cybersecurity
• Boolean logic and data representation
• Computational thinking and problem solving

I also provide structured academic guidance for IB IA, Extended Essay and A-Level/GCSE NEA projects. Students remain responsible for their own assessed work; my role is to help them understand the requirements, improve their thinking, develop their programming skills and respond effectively to feedback.

A typical lesson includes:

1. Quick diagnostic check – what do you already understand?
2. Simple explanation – learn the concept clearly.
3. Worked example – see exactly how it is applied.
4. Student practice – you solve the problem with my guidance.
5. Exam question – apply the knowledge in an examination context.
6. Feedback and next steps – identify exactly what to improve.

My aim is not simply to help students complete today's homework. I want students to become confident enough to tackle unfamiliar Computer Science questions independently.

Details

My standard online tuition rate is £39 per hour.

Every lesson is individually prepared according to the student's curriculum, current level, target grade and areas requiring improvement.

The fee includes more than the live lesson itself. Where appropriate, students receive personalised lesson preparation, learning resources, programming examples, exam-style questions and structured feedback to help them improve between lessons.

IB Computer Science: I support SL and HL students with theory, programming, examination preparation and appropriate guidance for the Internal Assessment (IA) and Extended Essay (EE). Support focuses on understanding the assessment requirements, planning, programming, testing, evaluation and improving the student's own work.

A-Level Computer Science: Support includes theory, Python programming, algorithms, pseudocode, examination technique and NEA guidance for students following boards such as AQA and OCR.

GCSE & IGCSE Computer Science: I support students following AQA, OCR, Edexcel and Cambridge courses with theory, programming and examination preparation, including students aiming for grades 7–9.

The free 30-minute introductory session is used to understand the student's course, current level, target grade and areas of difficulty. I then recommend a personalised learning plan for future lessons.

My aim is to provide structured, high-quality tuition rather than generic lessons, so students understand both the Computer Science concepts and how to apply them successfully in examinations.
