About Luc

"I didnt even know you can study economics at university without A-Level maths!" is what I have been told time and time again. It is also possible to do well.

I am studying Economics and Management (BScEcon) at Cardiff University. I love economics! It is, yes, an academic subject, but it can be applied so beautifully to the real world. With a good understanding of economics, one can better understand the world around them, and where they fit in the world. This is what I am passionate about.

Otherwise, I enjoy sea kayaking, I run a hobby-business on the side and I also work on the weekend as an NHS vaccinator.

About the lesson

I believe passionately that economics is an applied social science. It is too easy to become fixated with maths and diagrams, but my teaching approach brings what is theoretical to the real world.

We will root our lessons in core theories that you will come across all over the world. Building on these theories, we shall work on the numerical and written skills needed to be a good economist.

It's important to do well in exams, but it is equally to walk away with a better understanding of the world. This is why I choose to study economics, and I will help you to walk away with both.

My A-Levels were in Economics (A), Geography (A*) and English Language (A). I also did an EPQ in economics (A*). These three essay subjects have given me a fantastic foundation for my ability to employ written English in a wide range of contexts.

A notable omission from this list is maths! I did not study maths at A-Level, but nevertheless I am still doing a BScEcon at Cardiff University in Economics and Management. I have learnt many mathematical methodologies and have achieved first in my first year (where maths was a strong point!).

I understand the difficulty maths can have in economics, but you can still do very well in economics without being a maths genius, it just takes time and dedication. A helping hand is useful too, and that is why I am available!

I am happy (and have experience) teaching both GCSE and A-Level economics, as well as for anyone who wants to better understand the world around them with economic theories!
