About Sohail

Hi! I'm a first-year Dental student at Plymouth University with a strong passion for science and helping others succeed. I achieved an A in A Level Chemistry and know firsthand how challenging—and rewarding—the subject can be. My goal is to make Chemistry feel less intimidating and more empowering, whether you're aiming for top grades or just trying to make sense of the material. As someone who's been through the pressure of exams and UCAS applications recently, I understand what students are going through. I bring not only subject knowledge but also energy, empathy, and motivation to every session. I believe that with the right support, anyone can improve and even enjoy Chemistry. My Tutoring Approach and Teaching Style – A Level Chemistry As an A Level Chemistry tutor, I focus on building a strong foundation in core concepts while helping students develop the analytical and problem-solving skills needed to excel in both the theoretical and practical aspects of the subject. My approach is structured yet flexible, adapting to the individual needs of each student. My Techniques and Methodology: Conceptual Clarity: I break down complex topics—like organic mechanisms or equilibrium calculations—into simple, manageable steps to ensure students understand the 'why' behind the 'how'. Exam-Focused Practice: I incorporate past paper questions and mark schemes to familiarise students with exam formats, command words, and expectations. Visual Aids and Models: I use diagrams, molecular models, and reaction flowcharts to illustrate key ideas, particularly in organic chemistry and bonding. Active Engagement: Lessons include a mix of explanation, discussion, and guided practice to keep students actively involved and improve retention. Regular Assessment: I monitor progress with short quizzes and feedback sessions to pinpoint gaps in understanding and track improvement. Lesson Structure and Length Most of my lessons are 60 minutes, allowing us to cover one or two subtopics in depth, review problem sets, and tackle exam-style questions. For intensive revision or coursework support, I also offer 90-minute sessions. Lessons are always planned with clear objectives and tailored to what the student needs most—whether that's improving exam technique, grasping difficult topics, or building confidence. I will most definitely help you achieve your dream grade!
