About Hyun

I take tutoring seriously and always aim to create a respectful, organized, and supportive learning environment for every student. As a native Korean speaker who is also fluent in English, I can explain Korean clearly from both a native speaker’s perspective and a learner’s perspective.

I received a perfect 800/800 on the Korean SAT Subject Test, demonstrating a strong foundation in Korean reading, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension. I also graduated with honors from the University of California, Riverside, where I developed strong communication, research, and presentation skills.

In addition, I have previous teaching and tutoring experience, including working as a student tutor at a public library and serving as a teaching assistant. These experiences taught me how to explain concepts patiently, adapt to different learning styles, and make students feel comfortable asking questions.

I prepare lessons based on each student’s goals and level rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to improve your conversation, pronunciation, grammar, reading, or writing, I will provide structured guidance while keeping lessons approachable and encouraging.

My goal is for you to feel comfortable making mistakes, confident asking questions, and able to see steady improvement in your Korean over time.

About the lesson

I’m a native Korean speaker who grew up using both Korean and English, so I understand the challenges English speakers often face when learning Korean. I also received a perfect 800/800 on the Korean SAT Subject Test, which reflects my strong foundation in Korean grammar, reading, vocabulary, and comprehension.

My lessons are not just about memorizing textbook expressions. I can help you understand how Korean is actually spoken in real life, including natural pronunciation, everyday expressions, cultural nuances, and the difference between formal and casual Korean.

Because I’m fluent in both Korean and English, I can explain difficult grammar and expressions in a way that is easy to understand instead of simply telling you to memorize them. I also adjust lessons based on your personal goals, whether you want to improve conversation, pronunciation, grammar, reading, writing, travel Korean, or simply feel more confident speaking with Korean friends and family.

Most importantly, I want my lessons to feel comfortable and encouraging. You don’t have to worry about making mistakes — we’ll practice together at your own pace and focus on helping you speak
