About Khaled

My Background

I was born and raised in the United States and grew up speaking English. After becoming Muslim, I wanted to learn Arabic so I could understand my religion more deeply instead of always depending on translations.

That goal eventually led me to move to Saudi Arabia, where I began studying at an Arabic institute. There, I learned how to read, pronounce the Arabic letters correctly, and use my first Arabic words and sentences.

I later moved to Morocco and continued studying through several structured programs, including Al-‘Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk, courses at Markaz Al-Furqan, and lessons with teachers who have strong foundations in the Arabic language.

My teaching brings together the most effective methods and techniques those teachers used with me. I will explain difficult concepts clearly, encourage you to speak from the beginning, and help you turn what you study into Arabic you can actually use.

Our lessons will be friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to speak, experiment, and ask questions without feeling embarrassed. Mistakes are expected—especially in the beginning—and each mistake gives us something useful to improve.

I remember what starting from zero feels like, and my goal is to help you move forward with clarity, confidence, and consistent progress.

About the lesson

I Started Exactly Where You Are

About three years ago, I became Muslim. One year later, I began learning Arabic with absolutely no previous background in the language.

I couldn’t read a single Arabic word. I didn’t know how the alphabet worked, and I couldn’t properly pronounce letters such as ض، ع، ق، and ك. Today, I can hold conversations in Fuṣḥā, follow Arabic lessons, and read Arabic texts.

That journey is what sets me apart.

Because I learned Arabic as an adult English speaker, I understand the difficulties you are facing. I remember how unfamiliar the letters looked, how difficult certain sounds felt, and how confusing grammar explanations could be. I had to learn every step consciously, which allows me to explain Arabic in a way that makes sense to another English speaker.

After trying different learning methods, I discovered that progress comes faster when you begin using Arabic—not when you spend months memorizing rules without speaking.

Our lessons will focus on helping you:

* Speak and form your own sentences as early as possible
* Understand spoken Fuṣḥā
* Read and write with confidence
* Build vocabulary you can remember and use
* Learn grammar naturally as you need it

As your ability grows, we will gradually use more Arabic during our lessons. The long-term goal is for you to understand Arabic explanations and study Arabic grammar through Arabic itself, without always depending on English.

Every student has different goals, so your lessons can be adapted accordingly. Whether you want Arabic for Islamic studies, life in an Arabic-speaking country, work, or personal fluency, we will create a plan around what you want to achieve.
