About Lauren

I am a fully qualified history teacher.
- Experience teaching KS3-5.
- I have taught in 4 very different schools in my career, building relationships with my students and helping them achieve their best possible grades.
- Experience with online tutoring throughout the Covid pandemic and helping students to keep up with the expected work, work they are struggling with, and improving exam skills.
- Experience teaching students with additional learning needs, such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, autism and students that are learning English as an additional language.

About the lesson

Welcome to Learn with Lauren. Inspiring and engaging students through all areas of history I currently offer 1-2-1 sessions for students in secondary school covering key skills such as: English comprehension, structure, comparison, analysis, debate, questioning, and helping students become scholarly activists.
Keep your child's brain cells alive over summer, I can help with catching up on missed school or preparing for the new school year. Getting ready for that jump up to GCSE, A-level or IB, and helping your child be absolutely ready for their next academic steps at any level.
Whether your child is interested in the Tudors, Egyptians, WW2 or the Russian Revolution... I will bring the history to life! Your child will develop a transferable skill set whilst covering topics for the love of learning or linked to the key aspects of the History Curriculum giving purpose, breadth and depth to the areas of study.
KS3:
Understanding key historical concepts.
The key methods of historical enquiry.
How evidence is used to make historical claims.
How contrasting arguments and interpretations about the past are constructed.
Gaining historical perspective.
KS4:
Developing key skills in questioning, analysis and using a range of historical sources.
Developing an awareness of Historical Significance and how events have impacted on the world we live in today.
To organise and communicate eloquently, and articulate arguments successfully.
Exam boards taught: Edexcel & AQA
KS5:
To make well informed judgements based on available evidence.
To organise and communicate historical knowledge and understanding in different ways, arguing a case and reaching substantiated judgements.

Each session is tailored to each student, in 45 minute slots, with an independent activity to be completed and checked before the following session to discuss.
