About Anwarul

I have been teaching Chemistry for over 12 years in colleges in London and the East Midlands. In that time, I have been employed as an Advanced Practitioner, where I supported other teachers develop their teaching practice as a rated outstanding teacher myself. At my last college I was made Curriculum leader and later Head of Department. When I started the department’s results were in the bottom 25% of the country for student progress, within two years it was consistently in the top 10% for the courses I managed. My A level classes were in the top 1% for progress. I was first hired by an awarding body (exam board) after a training session with a senior examiner, who invited me to join their team. It was for adult courses I taught. I would check the assessment practice at other colleges and certify their standards. I also worked as a “standards verifier” for Pearson's BTEC Science and Forensic science courses, which was a similar role. I have also been an examiner with a major awarding body for GCSE Chemistry for the last 7 years. The experience I have earned in these roles has helped me to really understand exactly what the examiners look for in answers as well as identifying common misconceptions students have and areas they fall down in exams. My students benefit hugely from this insight, helping them earn those easy to lose marks. Before I was a teacher I worked in the financial sector as an intelligence analyst, and before that a researcher in Plant Genetics. I have a significant history outside of education, which I bring to my teaching and helps differentiate me from a lot of my colleagues. I am not the cheapest, certainly not the most expensive, I am however worth it.

About the lesson

My Chemistry lessons are designed to help aspiring students get top grades in their Chemistry A Level and will get you to: 1. Catch up on all your knowledge gaps and then get ahead of the game 2. Learn the language of exams so you know you will get the marks 3. Regain your belief in your academic ability I will do this by 1. Pinpointing the Problem: A personalised assessment meeting in the trial lesson to analyse exactly what we need to work on. 2. Review and Re-learn: Get a thorough knowledge of the curriculum, and then get ahead of the game! I will give you an easy to remember system to tackle hard topics (in particular the maths based ones), and break down topics into bite-size chunks to give you a solid foundation in each topic. 3. Embrace the Exams: Learn the language of exams (I am an examiner) so that every answer is word perfect. I am a UK trained and qualified teacher and examiner, specialising in A level Chemistry. With over 12 years’ experience including being the Head of Science, I have a wealth of knowledge about where students go wrong that can help improve their grades with students showing improvements of between 2 and 3 grades over a period of 4 months. This is the difference an experienced and qualified teacher can make. My rates may sound high, but reflect the quality of the delivery and the 100% success rate, which is why my clients make repeated bookings. High quality tuition is worth the investment. I do not tie my clients to a contract (beyond the lesson they book), because I am that confident with my service, I know my clients will come back.
