About Ivy
I’m a violin tutor with over ten years of experience and a Licentiate of Music in Violin, and I believe learning the violin can be as healing as it is inspiring. My approach is deeply holistic, using music not just as a skill to master, but as a space for self-expression, emotional release, and storytelling. I guide students to explore improvisation, journaling, and even creating personal soundscapes, helping them uncover their own voice through the instrument. Over the years, I’ve worked with neurodiverse learners, trauma survivors, and adults seeking a gentle way to reconnect with themselves through music. Every lesson is shaped around the student’s emotional needs and creative goals, offering structure when it’s helpful and freedom when it’s healing. I use the violin as a bridge between technique and feeling, showing students how a single note can carry meaning, memory, and comfort. My violin teaching approach blends tradition with technology to create an engaging and modern learning experience. I use metronome apps and tuning software to help students develop rhythm coordination and pitch accuracy with ease. Slow-motion video playback allows us to review posture and bowing techniques frame by frame, giving learners the visual feedback they often crave. Backing tracks bring practice sessions to life, helping students connect emotionally with the music while sharpening their timing and expressive tone matching.

Students who need extra guidance on posture benefit from clear visual cues, while others who thrive on emotional connection discover new ways to bring depth to their sound. I also integrate simple recording methods so students can track their progress and feel proud of every improvement they see and hear.
My goal is to make learning both inspiring and practical—balancing precision with creativity. By using technology thoughtfully, I give students confidence in their skills while making every lesson feel fresh and forward-thinking. This approach works beautifully for beginners exploring their first notes as well as advancing players refining their artistry.
