About Alessio

I am an Italian graduated actor from Florence, one of the most beautiful and most culturally active cities in Italy.
Like in the UK, in Italy you can find a lot of different dialects. Only a few people speak a correct Standard Italian. As an actor, I worked a lot to get rid of my regional accent and I am now a fluent Standard Italian speaker.
A foreign student approaching Italian as a second language should aim to learn Standard Italian in order to be understood everywhere in Italy. Standard Italian also sounds professional, polite and it is the spoken Italian that you can hear on TV, Theatre shows, Commercials, Cinema, Audiobooks. So, it will be also easier to practice and improve your Italian through media. You wouldn't want to learn a regional dialect unless you need to portrait a very specific character in a play.
I also have go Master's in Medical Biotechnology so I can help you learn scientific and academic terms.

About the lesson

If you are approaching Italian for the first time I will be happy to introduce you to the basics.
If you have been studying it for a while and you are already able to start a conversation (no matter your level) then we are going to have more fun!
I will focus on grammar rules and I will answer any related questions you might have, but also I will save some time each lesson to go through pronunciation and expressions.
We will use a lot of tongue twisters and diction exercises for actors in order to improve your clarity and I will give you tools you will be able to use at home to practice in your free time.
Also, prior to our lessons, I will ask you a few questions so that we can tailor the lessons to suit your needs and interests. Whether you are a professional looking to learn a specific vocabulary or you are passionate about tv series, video games, gardening, cooking, you will have fun while learning.
I will also use books excerpts and clips from films to help support your individual practice.
