About SOUVIK

I am Argha Mahanti, a graduate in Hindustani Classical Music with specialization in Tabla. With a deep passion for rhythm and years of dedicated training, I have developed a strong foundation in both the technical and expressive aspects of tabla playing.

My journey in music has been rooted in traditional learning while also adapting modern teaching methods to make lessons more accessible and engaging for students. I believe that tabla is not just an instrument, but a language of rhythm that can be understood and enjoyed by everyone.

As a teacher, I focus on building clear fundamentals, proper technique, and a strong sense of timing (laya). I aim to create a comfortable and motivating environment where students can learn at their own pace while steadily improving their skills.

Whether you are starting from scratch or looking to advance your playing, I am committed to guiding you with patience, clarity, and dedication throughout your musical journey.

About the lesson

In my classes, you will learn:

Basic hand techniques and posture;
Fundamental bols and taals (Teen Taal, Dadra, Keherwa, etc.);
Rhythm understanding and timing (laya);
Compositions (kaidas, relas, tukdas, and more);
Accompaniment skills for songs and performances;
Advanced improvisation and performance techniques (for higher-level students).

Each session is personalized according to your pace and goals. I focus on clarity, practice routines, and building confidence so you can play tabla with accuracy and expression.
