About Chase Emery

I have been teaching for a while now.

It all began when I was coaching my fellow classmates at school to help them sit their French exams, needless to say that they did considerably better than other students.

For the past year I have taught over a hundred students from all around the world on various online platforms. I have had amazing results with all of them as I do not stick to "conventional French teaching", which can be very linear, inconsiderate and restrictive. My students always have fun and have come back for the next lesson.

People that come to me are often looking to either start French on a very solid foot, or to polish of a already accomplished capability with the language.

What one must keep in mind is that as a Bilingual English French speak I completely understand the struggles and difficulties a lot of people face when takling french, which most French teachers from France ignore or look past.

I love having fun with language, and instructing it! I want to see my students progress!

About the lesson

I was born in New York to Anglo American parents, I moved to Paris at the age of 2. I was raised in a bilingual household in the French school system where I also studied German and Spanish.

I have studied with several famous French and American film coaches and have acted in films and video games. I was a member of Nation Youth and Youth Music Theatre UK like Matt Smith and Ed Sheeran.

At 16, I left France for boarding school in the UK to study and graduated with high grades in English Literature, French Language and Drama A Levels. In my final year I discovered a growing passion for music so I dropped Art (which I studied in Year 1) to study Music Theory. I recently graduated with a degree in Music Composition and am continuing with a Masters in Music Production.

My Approach:
Language is a rich tapestry of colours and communications, which is why I contextualise everything I teach. It is a way to bond with others who speak the same language, which is why my lessons are oriented towards beginners, actors and business people who wish to improve their conversational French.

I think it is important to be able to provide solid but fun references for you to explore and enjoy a culture and its language. Films, youtube, twitter and tv series are all amazing sources.

I believe in focused learning periods, for students to demonstrate eagerness to learn, and an open mind to let me help you and find the fun in what and how you learn.

What to Expect:
We can simply talk or delve deep into the language depending on your desired goals.

We will discuss topics relevant to today and discover culture and news in fun debates and banter. Do not worry if your level isn’t quite there yet. Only by speaking will you truly learn how to communicate in another language.

I have always been immensely passionate about language and enjoy teaching and meeting people around the world via skype. Whatever your level, I am ready to help you!
