• 1) Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

  I was born in Spain so Spanish is my native language. I always loved learning other languages and when I started teaching them I enjoyed them even more!

• 2) Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

  Miguel de Cervantes: author of Don Quijote. It is the most translated book after the Bible!

• 3) Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

  "Sobremesa" is probably one of my favourite spanish behaviours. It refers to that period of time that we spend at the table after having lunch or dinner, talking with the people, laughing... it might take up to three hours!

• 4) Why does speaking this language matter to you?

  I love travelling and speaking different languages allow me to communicate when I'm abroad, to get to know other cultures and to be more open. Also, there are so many countries where you can speak this language!

• 5) What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

  Probably the verb tenses. These could be quite difficult for Spanish learners, especially those who are used to the English grammar. But it only takes practice and someone who can explain it in a way that is easy for you!

• 6) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

  Spanish is my native language but I'm going to explain the experience I had when learning English. I started learning English in school, however, sadly, the Spanish educational system back then wasn't very good. The methodology was traditional. The teacher used to put the grammar on the chalkboard, then a list of vocabulary and then loads of exercises to practice. English wasn't used for communicative purposes. It didn't make sense to me. However, when I started studying English in an academy, they were using English in a motivating manner, using active methodologies. It was meaningful, using role plays, real situations... That's the spirit of my methodology and how I teach Spanish.
