About Kumarasinghe

Ayubowan! I’m Kumara, a passionate Sinhala language educator with over a decade of academic and teaching experience in Sri Lanka and abroad. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Sinhala, a Master’s in Linguistics, and a PhD in Education — qualifications that allow me to blend deep language knowledge with modern, evidence-based teaching methods.

I previously served as a university lecturer in Sri Lanka, where I taught Sinhala language, literature, linguistics, and communication skills to students from diverse backgrounds. My teaching style is clear, friendly, structured, and highly personalized — designed to meet the needs of absolute beginners, intermediate learners, school students, heritage learners, or anyone wishing to connect with Sinhala for professional or cultural reasons.

About the Lessons
I offer simple, engaging, and easy-to-follow Sinhala lessons specially designed for children who are beginning their Sinhala learning journey. Using my background as a university lecturer in Sinhala Language and my experience as a child educator, I create lessons that are fun, structured, and aligned with the child’s developmental stage.

Beginner Sinhala for Children
My beginner lessons focus on building strong foundations through:
Colorful visuals and child-friendly activities
Step-by-step introduction to letters, sounds, and basic vocabulary
Simple sentences and everyday conversations
Short stories, songs, and cultural elements
Writing practice with guided worksheets

Advanced Sinhala Lessons for ACARA Sinhala Language Exam
For students preparing for the ACARA Sinhala Language Assessment, I provide focused and structured lessons that develop advanced language skills required to excel in the exam.
These lessons include:
Advanced reading comprehension
Structured writing (narrative, descriptive, analytical)
Grammar refinement and complex sentence construction
Oral expression, presentations, and pronunciation practice
Exam-style practice activities and mock tests
