About Jieya

Hey! I'm Jieya, 21, currently pursuing my Master's in Clinical Psychology and genuinely trying to figure out life one step at a time. Teaching here is one of those steps — but it's not just about the extra income. I love people, and I love helping them. It genuinely brings me joy in a way not many things do. Outside of psychology, I'm someone who loves dancing and music but don't mind me if I'm shy and awkward at first, I promise I'll gel up!
I've been passionate about psychology for as long as I can remember, and my internship at a mental health facility only deepened that. Being in a clinical environment taught me things no textbook could — about people, about patience, and about how much it matters to truly listen without judgment. I try to bring that same energy into everything I do, including how I'd approach teaching.
I'm comfortable working with high school students, undergraduates, or anyone who's simply curious about the subject. Whether you're studying for an exam or just want to understand yourself and the world a little better, I'd love to be part of that journey.

About the lesson

Psychology is all around us — in the way we think, feel, relate to others, and make sense of the world. My goal as a tutor is to make you see that, and to make every concept feel less like something you're memorizing and more like something you're truly understanding.
I would tailor every session to where you are. Whether you're a complete beginner or someone looking to sharpen your understanding of specific topics, we start at your level with no judgment and no rush. I'm a student myself, so I can completely relate when a topic is hard to understand or becomes heavy. As a student and intern I've been encouraged to practice empathy and non-judgment in everyday life as well.
My approach is patient and conversational.
Each session would start with a quick recap, followed by breaking down new concepts in plain language. I use video clips, movie references, and real-life examples to make ideas stick, and I'll often ask you to explain the concept back to me in your own words — one of the most effective ways to truly solidify understanding.
What makes these classes different:
I'm currently pursuing my Master's in Clinical Psychology and have interned at a mental health facility, which means when we cover topics like psychological disorders, abnormal behavior, or therapeutic approaches, I'm drawing from real clinical exposure — not just textbook knowledge. My understanding of these subjects is also current, since I'm actively studying them.
Topics I cover include:
Social psychology, schools of psychology, motivation, learning, memory, perception, developmental psychology, psychological disorders, and more. If there's a specific topic you're interested in, we can absolutely structure sessions according to that.
