About Sam

Hello, my name is Sam.
I am an Australian Fiber Artist with 9 years of tutoring experience. I’ve worked with children and adults ( I am a qualified Waldorf Teacher) helping many discover the therapeutic advantages of fiber art.
I am looking forward to meeting you, and helping to get you started on your needle felt painting journey, so that you too can reap the therapeutic benefits of this art form.

About the lesson

You have found these lessons if you are looking to explore a new therapeutic art, namely Needle Felt Painting.
In these 1 hour lessons you will learn the fundamentals of wool placement, picture composition and tried and true tips from an experience fibre artist.
I have been teaching felting for the past 9 years, working with children (I am a qualified primary school teacher) and adults.
Needle felting is very therapeutic:
-The hard-to-explain up and down scrunching motion as the needle goes through the felt and into the foam mat gives a calming sensation to most people.
-the ability to simply remove a colour before it is thoroughly felted affords the artist more flexibility with this painting process, making it stress free and very forgiving to mistakes.
-needle felting is mess free, allowing the artist to reap the benefits of painting without the hassle of cleaning paintbrushes and spilled or wasted paint afterwards.

Purchase as many lessons as you want until you feel confident to continue your needle felt painting journey independently. Contact me if you would like to purchase felting supplies before starting our lessons. You will need: a foam mat, felting needles, and various colours of merino felting wool. I will see you on the other side of the computer.
