About Leia

Learn Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese from a Dedicated, Experienced, and Professional Tutor As a bilingual native speaker who lived in Taiwan for 13 years, I bring not only strong language skills but also a deep understanding of the culture, traditions, and everyday life. My lessons are carefully structured, engaging, and adapted to your individual pace and learning style. Whether you are a complete beginner, preparing for the HSK exam, or seeking to refine your professional communication skills, you can expect a clear, supportive, and results-focused learning experience. I take pride in maintaining a professional and encouraging environment, ensuring you feel comfortable asking questions and practicing without fear of mistakes. My goal is to help you master both Mandarin and Taiwanese, while also giving you the cultural insights and confidence to use them in real-world situations. With my guidance, you will progress steadily, learn effectively, and enjoy the rewarding journey of exploring these languages and their rich cultural heritage.

About the lesson

My Approach as a Tutor
I believe language learning should be both structured and engaging—combining clear explanations with real-life practice so you can use Chinese confidently in everyday situations. I tailor my lessons to each student’s goals, whether that’s conversational fluency, academic achievement, or professional communication.
Teaching Method & Techniques

Blend of grammar clarity and immersive conversation practice
Use of real-world materials (news articles, videos, songs) to build listening skills and cultural awareness
Repetition and spaced review to help vocabulary stick
Encouragement of speaking from day one to build confidence
Typical Lesson Plan
Warm-up – Short conversation or review from the previous lesson
New Material – Vocabulary, grammar, or pronunciation focus
Practice – Role-play, reading, or listening activities
Feedback & Correction – Clear, constructive guidance for improvement
Wrap-up & Homework – Summary of key points and practice assignments
What Sets Me Apart
I’m a bilingual native speaker who can break down complex grammar into simple explanations in English, making learning faster and less stressful. My approach is flexible, blending traditional learning with modern resources so lessons feel fresh and practical.
Who My Lessons Are For

Beginners learning Chinese from scratch
Intermediate learners looking to improve fluency and confidence
Advanced learners refining their skills for academic, professional, or cultural purposes
Students preparing for HSK exams, business trips, or study abroad programs
