About Cecilia

Kia Ora! My name is Cecilia, born in Germany, raised by Portuguese parents. Which means I grew up bilingual and culturally open from the very beginning. I’ve always been fascinated by languages, people, and the different ways we connect, beyond just words. Early on, I discovered my passion for travel and intercultural exchange. I’ve lived and worked in Costa Rica, Australia, New Zealand, Portugal and India. Each place has shaped how I see language: not just as a tool, but as a bridge between people. I’ve also worked with refugees, which taught me how powerful communication can be, even when there's a language barrier. I’m a trained social pedagogue with teaching experience and a calm, empathetic approach. I believe in creating a space where learning feels safe, seen and encouraged, no matter their starting level. Together, we’ll build your confidence and help you express yourself naturally, whether in everyday conversation or more structured settings. You decide :)

About the lesson

As a bilingual social pedagogue with real-life teaching experience, I offer a warm, structured, and communication-focused approach to language learning. My lessons are designed to build confidence, clarity, and authentic expression, because I believe language is not just learned, it's lived. My teaching style is interactive, practical, and learner-centered. I tailor each session to your goals and pace, and focus on: - Speaking from day one, even with limited vocabulary - Real-life situations: dialogues, listening and reading tasks - Flexible structure: no rigid textbooks – just what works for you - Supportive atmosphere: patient, empathetic, and encouraging - Focus on confidence and communication, not just grammar drills A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, but I also offer 45 or 90-minute sessions depending on your needs. Every class includes: - A short review of what we covered previously - A focused topic or skill (e.g. vocabulary, listening, conversation) - Practical use of language in context - Feedback, questions, and suggestions for continued learning My Background I have experience as a tutor for nursing students, where I taught health-related topics in a clear and engaging way. I’m also a trained Hatha Vinyasa yoga teacher, which has shaped my mindful approach to teaching. I’ve lived and worked in Costa Rica, New Zealand, and India, so I bring cultural sensitivity and adaptability to each lesson.
