About Joe

Hello! My name is Joseph Pettit, and I bring a blend of creativity, communication skills, and one-on-one coaching experience to my tutoring. With a background in creative strategy, content development, and personal training, I’ve spent years guiding people toward their goals—whether that’s mastering a subject, building confidence, or developing new skills. I enjoy breaking down complex ideas into clear, approachable steps and finding engaging ways to make learning stick. Beyond my professional work, I hold a degree in Creative Writing with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Arizona, which means I value both clarity of expression and practical problem-solving. In my free time, I enjoy fitness, storytelling, and exploring new digital tools that make education more interactive and enjoyable. My goal as a tutor is to create a supportive, motivating environment where students feel comfortable, challenged, and excited about learning.

About the lesson

I hold a B.A. in Creative Writing with a minor in Business Administration from the University of Arizona, where I developed a strong foundation in communication, critical thinking, and academic writing. My teaching experience spans both professional and coaching environments, where I’ve guided individuals to achieve their personal, academic, and professional goals.

As a personal trainer at Tucson Strength, I provide customized instruction, adapting my methods to each client’s needs and learning style. This role has sharpened my ability to break down complex concepts into clear, step-by-step lessons while motivating individuals to stay consistent and confident in their progress. Similarly, in my roles as a marketing consultant and assistant, I regularly trained colleagues and team members on digital tools, content strategies, and workflow systems such as Miro, Slack, and SharePoint 365—helping them build skills they could apply independently.

My teaching methodology emphasizes clarity, patience, and adaptability. I focus on meeting students where they are, identifying the best way they learn, and building lessons that are both practical and engaging. While I do not hold formal teaching certifications, my background in creative writing, communication, and coaching equips me to support students in writing, business fundamentals, digital tools, and personal development with both subject expertise and real-world application.
