About Amelia

Hi, I’m Amelia! I’m originally from the UK, and I’ve spent the past year teaching English and science to students of all ages in Taiwan. I love teaching because I enjoy helping people grow in confidence and discover that learning can be fun. My favourite part is seeing students go from feeling unsure to being able to express themselves freely in English. I’m also passionate about languages myself. I’m learning Mandarin right now and I even run my own language exchange club, so I really understand the challenges of learning a new language and how rewarding it can be. I want to teach because I believe English can open up so many opportunities, whether for study, travel, work, or just connecting with people from all over the world. I’d love to support you on your journey and make lessons enjoyable, practical, and tailored to you.

About the lesson

I have teaching experience across a wide range of ages and levels, from kindergarten to high school students in Taiwan. During this time, I taught both English and science, creating lesson plans that combined structure with creativity. My classes often included interactive vocabulary games, experiments, role-plays, and activities designed to spark curiosity and keep students engaged. My methodology is student-centred. I believe learning works best when lessons are practical, fun, and tailored to the learner’s goals. I focus on building confidence through speaking practice, using real-life contexts, and encouraging creativity so students feel motivated and comfortable expressing themselves. In addition to classroom teaching, I currently run a community-based language exchange club, which gives me hands-on experience helping learners in a relaxed, social environment. I am also a language learner myself and I am actively studying Mandarin, so I understand the challenges of acquiring a new language and use this perspective to make my lessons more supportive and effective. My subject expertise covers general English, conversational fluency, grammar, vocabulary development, and science. I specialise in making science fun by breaking down complex concepts into simple, engaging explanations that students of all ages can understand and enjoy.
