About Mireia

I am an English Language graduate from the University of Barcelona, where I focused on second language teaching and acquisition.

Learning English as a non-native speaker has helped me discover effective methods for learning and teaching foreign languages.

My passion for teaching Catalan came from realising that the language we can teach best is often our native language. By learning a language, you learn so much more than how to name things or communicate with others. Learning a language also means discovering its culture and people, and truly engaging with new communities.

As I am passionate about teaching the Catalan language and culture, I obtained a C2 level in Catalan, and I am currently completing a postgraduate degree in Teaching Catalan to Adults at the University of Vic.

With 4 years of teaching experience, I have taught Catalan to both adults and children, from A1 to C1 level.

About the lesson

Motivation is one of the most important elements when it comes to learning a language. Therefore, my lessons are planned specifically around each student's goals and ambitions, using the learning techniques that work best for you!

WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT?
Whether you are starting Catalan from scratch, you want to improve your fluency, you need Catalan to engage with loved ones, you just want to explore Catalunya and talk to locals, or you want your kids to learn their parents' native language, I will adapt the lessons to your goal.

You can expect a friendly and relaxed environment where making mistakes is part of the learning process. I believe that the best way to learn a language is to actively use it, so we will work through practical and engaging activities.

I also like to bring Catalan culture into my lessons. If you are interested, we can explore traditions, music, food, current topics, and everyday life in Catalonia, giving you the opportunity to understand not only the language but also the culture behind it.

Most importantly, we will work together at your pace and celebrate your progress along the way!

LOCATION AND LENGTH
Everyone's schedule is different, and I am happy to adapt to yours. Lessons can take place either in person at a location of your choice in London or online. You can choose between:
