About Henry

I’m a ballet dancer - international guest artist, and currently Soloist at CC Ballet Northern Colorado, with over a decade of international performing experience and close to a decade of international teaching experience. I have a BA(Hons) in Ballet and a Fdn in Dance, both from one of the leading ballet schools in Great Britain. In 2021 I became principal at a high performance school in Cheshire, (England), and in 2022 I became head of the men’s and pas de deux program at the school of CC Ballet Northern Colorado.
I have coached for international competitions including the YAGP, and student achievements include admittance and scholarships to leading ballet schools across the world.
Along with my degree and foundation degree in ballet and dance (respectively), I am also PBT certified, and am studying for my exams to be a Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS). Performance credits include:
Cleveland Ballet’s ‘Messiah’, Ozark Ballet’s ‘Swan Lake’, CCBallet’s ‘Giselle’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’, ‘Nutcracker’, and many contemporary works. Ballet West Scotland’s ‘Swan Lake’, ‘Giselle’, and ‘Nutcracker’, and Gilbert and Sullivan international operetta competition 2017 champions, 2018 first runners up.

About the lesson

For me ballet is about being both a technician and an artist, you can’t be a dancer without having worked on both these elements. What I find is that most teachers favor one or the other based on how they themselves dance, and teach only one, leaving thousands of students with half an education. I like to teach how I was taught. With a Royal Academy of Dance foundation, and with the last two years of my formal training being under both a ballet mistress for the Ballet de Havana de Cuba and one of the old school greats of Balanchine and Bournonville - some of the world’s most prestigious companies and schooling systems. My classes are structured safely, pushing students to achieve pure technique and artistry, in an enjoyable and holistic manner. I follow both an English and a Cuban approach to pedagogy - a strong combination to create powerful jumps and turns, graceful and placed port de bras, and a clean and commanding presence in technique and artistry. Whether I’m the sole teacher, or a supporting role in a student’s dancing development, I take pride in my teaching in the knowledge that I can help anyone become the best dancer they can be.

I am a colleague of Henry’s and have also taken lessons from Henry as well. He is very knowledgeable about ballet both from a proprioceptive standpoint as well as from a historical stand point. Henry’s training and prior directorship allows him to connect with a wide variety of ages in various styles. I’d highly recommend this teacher!
