About Brittney

ASL Instructor | Coach | 10+ Years Experience | Purdue Certified

Hi! I’m a dedicated educator and Purdue Certified instructor with over a decade of experience in both American Sign Language and History Teacher. My background as a coach means I don’t just deliver facts or signs—I motivate students to see the "big picture" and find their own voice in every lesson. My Teaching Style: Context & Coaching I believe learning should be as dynamic as a fast-paced sport. My style is energetic, patient, and highly interactive.

In ASL: We focus on "muscle memory" and the beautiful spatial grammar of the language. In History: I move beyond dates and names to tell the stories that shaped our world, helping you understand the "why" behind the events. Because I love learning new things myself, I stay curious and constantly adapt my methods to fit your unique goals. I treat every session like a coaching clinic: we practice, we refine, and we celebrate every breakthrough.

When I’m Not Teaching I’m a firm believer in a balanced life, and my personal passions keep my energy high in the classroom: Adventure & Culture: I’m a huge fan of traveling, which fuels my love for history and my deep appreciation for how different cultures communicate. Family, Friends & Pups: Nothing beats quality time with the people (and dogs!) I love.

On the Sidelines: Whether I’m coaching on the field or watching a game, I live for the strategy and teamwork of sports. I’m excited to bring my 10+ years of expertise to our sessions and help you reach your academic and fluency goals. Let’s get started!

About the lesson

ASL : My style is built on dynamic, conversational immersion rather than rote memorization. I believe language lives in the "aha!" moments, so I prioritize real-world scenarios and cultural nuances that textbooks often skip. I am a patient, high-energy mentor who tailors every session to your specific pace, ensuring you feel empowered, never overwhelmed. Whether we are mastering complex grammar or perfecting your ASL handshapes, my goal is to build your confidence and fluency through consistent, supportive, and genuinely engaging practice.
