About Jacopo

Jacopo Sabina, born in Italy, discovered his passion for early music at a young age, especially for the three plucked instruments lute, theorbo and baroque guitar. He graduated with distinction from the Giuseppe Rossini Conservatory in Pesaro in 2015. This was followed by a master's degree at the University of Music and Theater in Munich under Evangelina Mascardi.

Jacopo Sabina has performed in Italy and Germany and has worked with renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Andrea Marcon, Stefano Montanari, Andrea de Carlo, Ivor Bolton and Gianluca Capuano. As a continuo player he regularly performs with the Bavarian State Opera, the Munich Philharmonic, the Munich Court Orchestra, the Teatro Real Madrid, the Munich Bach Orchestra, the Concerto Munich, the Ensemble Mare Nostrum and the Ensemble Physalia.

As a soloist and continuo player he has been invited to various early music festivals:

Festival Resonanzen (Vienna), Wunderkammer (Trieste), Ambronay (France), Vivat Curlandia (Latvia), Residenzwoche (Munich), Bayreuth Baroque, etc.

In 2017, he won the audience award in the "Spielwiese" young talent competition at the Cologne Festival of Early Music 2017 with the Ensemble Messa di Voce. In March 2019, he won a scholarship to the German Music Competition with the Ensemble Caladrius. In May 2019, he won all three main prizes at the Göttingen Handel Competition with the Ensemble Caladrius, and in July 2019 he received second prize at the Aquila lute competition (jury: Paul O'dette).

About the lesson

I offer lessons as a professional lute player with over 17 years of experience.

My lessons are characterized by an individual approach that is tailored to the unique needs and goals of each student. I work with you to develop solid technique, musical expression and interpretive depth in order to reach your full potential on the lute.
