About Nicolas
I am a passionate teacher who values understanding each student and their unique learning journey. Having learned myself for fun, through imitation, songs, with and without sheet music, and later through extensive academic training, I am aware of and open to all learning approaches. My goal is to help you get where you want to go, while preserving your passion for your instrument and for music as a whole.
I have played music internationally and also have had the opportunity to learn from masters around the world, notably in Havana, Cuba, where I have spent more than 6 months honing my skills on congas, bongos and timbales.

I offer an approach tailored to your needs (whether playful and song-based, or more formal, using college or university-level learning materials.)
For beginners, you will learn how to produce sounds on your instrument, how to adopt a comfortable and efficient posture, and explore rhythms and techniques suitable for all levels. You’ll also gain an understanding of the mechanics specific to your instrument, as well as its role within traditional percussion ensembles.
For intermediate musicians, you will develop a structured practice routine and learn a series of exercises designed to refine your control of sound and improve your technical agility. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore the roots of your instrument and build a repertoire of rhythms aligned with your musical goals.
For advanced musicians, we can explore how to conceptualize your role within a band or percussion ensemble, as well as different approaches to your instrument in popular, jazz, and global music contexts.
