Louise is an excellent Latin tutor - she is both kind and thorough in her approach to teaching. She made sure to stop and check I understood all of the grammar in translation passages and explained tricky constructions in a way that I could easily grasp. She is extremely prepared, with a whole host of resources and passages which she would send across before our lessons. Since she was extremely methodical in her approach to translation passages, I learnt a process that I was able to apply myself in the exam hall to maximise my potential. I am extremely grateful to have been tutored by Louise, as it enabled me to attain an A in my Latin A level exams and consequently meet the grade requirements of my Cambridge offer!

Louise has been tutoring Luca, 13, and Amalia, 11, in Latin over the past year while we’ve been away (over Skype unfortunately as we were in Italy). Louise was brilliant. I have never seen our kids so excited about lessons and so anxious to learn more. In a sense, this was no surprise: Louise was well-prepared for every lesson (which was essential given that the kids didn’t have any Latin in school and so relied entirely on the lessons and the work that Louise assigned to them). Her tightly focused but balanced approach was perfectly attuned to our childrens’ abilities. One never got the sense that the lessons or the assignments were too hard or too easy, and the childrens’ progress over the year was well beyond what they would have achieved in school. Louise has an easy, relaxed approach and is very personable and likeable (a must for teaching kids!), and has many years of experience in tutoring and teaching Latin at all levels.

For two years Louise taught Latin to my daughter (then aged 10-12). Louise was a professional and well-organised teacher, and unfailingly friendly and supportive. My daughter looked forward to the sessions, and has since told me several times that Louise was her favourite of several tutors and an excellent teacher. The lessons were enjoyable and well-structured, with good use of teaching materials. My daughter gained a good grasp of the essentials which has since served her well in her further studies in Latin, in which she is excelling. I therefore thoroughly recommend Louise as a tutor.

Louise has been tutoring my son for four years and during that time she has been an absolute inspiration: sustaining his inspiration for Latin, whilst rigorously ensuring he gained the very highest grades in his exams. Louise’s tutoring is friendly, engaging and grounded in an expert knowledge of Latin. Each lesson is thoughtfully prepared and is delivered in a manner which is both supportive challenging (and fun!)
