About Monique
I recently returned back to South Africa from the United States where I worked as an Au Pair for 2.5 years. Before leaving South Africa, I volunteered at a Primary school aftercare for 7th Graders, helping them with homework and worked as an Au Pair. I've worked with kids who struggle with ADHD/ADD and dyslexia. During the Covid-19 pandemic, I had to assist the kids I cared for in the States with their school work while they were doing remote learning. During my time as an Au Pair in the United States, I met different people from all over the world and realized that a simple conversation in English can help someone trying to learn the language in so many ways! Therefore, I offer conversation practice as well.

Relaxed lessons. I can assist with any struggles the student may have from grammar, spelling and understanding the rules that goes along with it. Afrikaans is my native language and I'm fluent in English, therefore I can teach using both languages. For the first couple lessons, the student and I will discuss their problem areas. A typical lesson would consist of working on topics the student have trouble understanding and/or preparing for tests and exams. My lessons are aimed at school age children, but I can assist adults, who have some background knowledge of the language, in conversation practice.
