About Ian

I am very passionate about assisting students through tough times. I began my university studies (at 32 years old) as an underperformer with little care in the entire process. After truly realising my interest in Psychology, and science broadly, I went on to achieve a University medal for rare academic achievement. I now have an Honours degree in Psychology (first class), four years experience as a psychology tutor, and produced one published research article in a peer-reviewed sports psychology journal. I was a PhD candidate for a year (post-Honours), but covid and a very new member of the family have put that project to rest! At present, I tutor in-class courses at Griffith University on the Goldcoast. I also work as a consultant on an upcoming virtual reality program for children with special needs.

I think it is vital to guide students through their first, and sometimes most difficult academic years as they adjust to new settings. I understand students' concerns at this stage, and can provide much insight into the often incredibly difficult criteria they need to follow.

It doesn't matter how much work needs to be done, I always get my students over the line!

About the lesson

I am uniquely aware of universities' stringent assessment requirements that must be met, and can help you tailor your assessment to meet the criterion. Within this service, I begin by coaching you through the basics of creating an outline, or structural basis for your assessment (often, this is a Lab Report). This outline serves as a template for you to begin your Lab Report with minimal assistance. Depending on your requirements, I am then available to check-in regularly and provide feedback, direction, and editing into the final stages of submitting your assessment.

While I am happy to meet for one-on-one sessions, I prefer to work online (primarily to save time!).
