About Amina

I am a double graduate in two first class honours degrees with 8 years experience tutoring KS2/3 through to GCSE, English, Chemistry, Biology, Physics and IELTS English for a variety of exam boards.

Here’s some things I do:

- Assess and tailor a plan that actually works on an individual basis for each student and isn’t just a blanket approach to tuition.
- Build rapport and effective teaching and active recall methods that can achieve tangible success for the student
- I provide tailor made sample questions using current gaps in knowledge paired in line with exam syllabus content
- I liaise with parents / guardian as well as student to help maintain clear communication and updates on progress
- I am always developing new ways to engage students struggling in key areas - finding the most optimal ways of engagement
- I create weekly resources and tasks, if requested additional homework is set on line with National Curriculum in efforts to enhance and consolidate student’s learning.

About the lesson

Typical Lesson Plan Methodology for a New Student:

1.Initial Assessment:
- Conduct a comprehensive evaluation to understand the student's current knowledge level, strengths, and areas for improvement.
- Discuss the student's goals, exam board requirements, and any specific challenges they face.

2.Tailored Learning Plan:
- Develop a personalised learning plan based on the assessment results, targeting the student's unique needs.
- Set clear, achievable objectives for each session and long-term academic goals.

Structure of Lessons:

Introduction (5-10 minutes):
- Review previous material and address any questions or difficulties.
- Outline the goals and topics for the current session.
Core Teaching (30-40 minutes):**
- Introduce new concepts using a variety of teaching methods (visual aids, practical examples, interactive discussions).
- Ensure understanding through active recall and formative assessments.
Practice and Application (15-20 minutes):**
- Provide sample questions and problems aligned with the exam syllabus.
- Encourage the student to apply new knowledge, offering guidance and feedback.
Review and Feedback (10-15 minutes):**
- Summarise key points of the lesson.
- Provide constructive feedback and identify areas for further practice.
- Assign tailored homework if requested, to reinforce learning and prepare for the next session.

Continuous Communication:
- Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to update them on progress and address any concerns.
- Adapt the learning plan as needed based on the student’s progress and evolving needs.

Engagement and Motivation:
- Continuously develop new strategies to keep the student engaged and motivated.
- Use positive reinforcement and celebrate achievements to build confidence and foster a love for learning.
