About Fathima Simla
Hi, I’m Simla! I’m a third-year Medical Student at King’s College London with a strong academic background in Biology, Chemistry and Maths, and over 4 years of experience tutoring students at GCSE and A-Level. Alongside my medical studies, teaching has remained something I genuinely enjoy because I love seeing the moment when a topic that once seemed difficult finally starts to make sense.
My own academic journey has taught me that achieving excellent grades is not simply about working harder - it is about learning how to learn. I know how overwhelming GCSEs and A-Levels can feel, particularly when there is a lot of content to cover and expectations are high. This is why I aim to make my lessons structured, encouraging and genuinely useful, helping students develop both the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.
Over the years, I have had the privilege of supporting students with very different abilities, personalities and goals. Some have needed help building their foundations and confidence, while others have been aiming for the very highest grades and competitive university courses. I take the time to understand each student as an individual and adapt my teaching around how they learn best.
What motivates me most about tutoring is seeing progress. There is nothing more rewarding than watching a student go from saying “I don’t understand this” to confidently explaining the concept themselves. I want my students to leave each lesson feeling more capable than when they arrived not just because they have learned something new, but because they have developed the confidence to tackle the next challenge independently.
As a medical student, I also understand first hand the importance of consistency, discipline and effective exam preparation. I bring that experience into my tutoring while keeping my lessons friendly, patient and student centred. Whether you are a parent looking for reliable academic support or a student wanting to reach your full potential, I would love to help you turn your goals into achievable results.

Every student learns differently, which is why I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach to tutoring. As a third year Medical Student at King’s College London with over 4 years of tutoring experience, I provide personalised GCSE and A-Level lessons in Biology, Chemistry and Maths that are tailored to each student’s individual goals, strengths and areas for improvement.
My aim is not simply to help students memorise content for an exam, but to help them genuinely understand what they are learning. I break down challenging concepts into clear, manageable steps and use explanations, worked examples, exam-style questions and active recall to build both knowledge and confidence. I also encourage students to ask questions freely and make mistakes without feeling embarrassed because that is often where the most effective learning happens.
For exam preparation, I place a strong emphasis on understanding exactly what exam boards are looking for. We work through past paper questions, identify common mistakes, develop exam technique and practise applying knowledge under timed conditions. I provide constructive feedback throughout, so students know not only what they got wrong, but why they got it wrong and exactly how to improve.
I also believe that confidence plays a huge role in academic success. My lessons are supportive but focused, with the goal of helping students become increasingly independent learners. Whether a student is struggling with the basics, aiming for the highest possible grade, preparing for A-Levels, or working towards competitive university courses, I adapt my teaching to meet them where they are and help them progress from there.
Having worked with students over several years, I have seen first-hand how much difference the right support can make. My approach combines patience, structure and high academic expectations, while keeping lessons engaging and enjoyable. Ultimately, I want every student to leave a lesson thinking, 'I understand this now and I know how to improve.'

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Fathima Simla as a tutor, and I can honestly say she is an exceptional teacher. She combines strong subject knowledge with a genuinely supportive and encouraging approach that makes even difficult topics feel manageable.
What I appreciate most about her teaching is how personalised her lessons are. She takes the time to understand where you’re struggling, explains concepts clearly and patiently, and then builds your confidence through targeted practice and feedback. She doesn’t simply teach you how to get an answer, she helps you understand why the answer is correct and how to approach similar questions independently.
One of the things that really stood out to me was how much she cared about progress beyond individual lessons. She was always prepared, organised and focused on helping me reach my full potential. Her encouragement made a real difference to my confidence and motivation.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Fathima Simla to any student or parent looking for a knowledgeable, reliable and genuinely caring tutor. She goes above and beyond for her students, and I have no doubt that anyone learning with her will benefit enormously from her experience and dedication.View more recommendations
