About Keilyn

As someone who refused to reach out for help when struggling with understanding concepts, I want to assist students and help them expand their knowledge; I aim to teach them the importance of accepting help when needed without feeling guilty or not smart enough. I am an active listener and considerate of student's feelings about needing a tutor, as well as what each student prefers for tutoring methods; some kids need mental stimulation while working, like music, while others need physical movement to help them stay focused. I have helped younger students before, but only with reading and grammar; I have, however, aided many of my grappling peers throughout grades with concepts and methods in classes. I believe in the importance of making mistakes, which can be used as an opportunity to explain why their solution is incorrect and work through the problem together to find the correct answer.

About the lesson

I am a flexible tutor who can work with students on lessons as needed or using a structured lesson plan that includes independent practice on top of guided learning. A typical lesson plan, depending on the subject, will include a formatted study outline following the class's syllabus on top of homework help and test reviews. Independent practice worksheets are offered to students who would like to attempt the work on their own. I am available for students ranging from 1st to 8th grade and requiring help in the following subjects: arithmetic, algebra, geometry, general sciences, chemistry, biology, and engineering. I am an attentive tutor who actively forms plans based on the student's individual learning needs and engages with both teachers and parents for input on what knowledge is necessary for the student to achieve a better grasp on the subject.
