About Corrie

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have 7 years teaching experience. As part of Chaos Collective I have lead workshops on improvisation and playing in ensembles. I have studied with some of the UK's most renowned music educators: Simon Purcell and Tommy Smith to name but two.

I have performed across the UK and Europe with legendary jazz musicians the likes of Bobby Wellins, Stan Sulzmann, Jim Mullen as well as with upcoming stars such as Laura Jurd & Jacob Collier ((concealed information) and my own band 'Blue-Eyed Hawk'.

I have studied across the UK, Europe and Africa with a diversity of incredible musicians including master kpanlogo drummer Saddiq Addy, world-renowned session/jazz drummers such as Ralph Salmins (Elton John, Madonna, James Brown, Tom Jones) & Kendrick Scott (Pat Metheny, Terence Blanchard).

About the lesson

Looking to learn drums or expand your understanding of rhythm?

I'm currently accepting new students for lessons in Greenwich. I'm a hyper-dedicated teacher who loves teaching all who wish to engage with music and drumming.

Rather than have a fixed method, I design my lessons around the learning styles and aspirations of each student, providing bespoke lesson materials and supporting you in your learning however I can. Be it learning to play in an ensemble, learning to appreciate music in new ways or augmenting your professional career with rhythmic prowess I cherish the opportunity to be a part of each student’s unique musical journey.

I’m an expert in a multitude of styles with a degree in jazz drums, a Mercury prize shortlisting and experience studying traditional music in Morocco and Ghana. I have a deep understanding of the harmony that exists in rhythm, compose my own music which has been released on numerous albums and have some modest renown.

Learn drums with me and you’ll have a mentor who cares and is always there to answer questions and support you. Past students have gone on to study at Trinity Laban, Royal Academy of Music, Goldsmiths University, Guildhall and RWCMD or have gone on to lead lives generally enriched by music and rhythm.
