About Johannes

- What kind of experience do you have? I have lived and worked in Germany, Italy, USA, India, Chile, Spain and since 2009 in the UK as a Modern Language Teacher and Tutor. I have more than 25 years experience in teaching German and English, at language schools, in private tuition (families and one to one) and Business German and English (also 201-2009 in Spain). I have also worked as a Culture and Nature Tour-guide in Chile (1997-2001 in Patagonia, Atacama), I am tri-lingual. My family is from Chile and we speak Spanish at home. My wife is, apart from her PhD studies, also teaching Spanish and is a consultant on education - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? I have the German and a British CRB certificate - Where and with whom did you train? I trained at Pädagogische Hochschule Esslingen, Germany (Pedagogy and Education). At International House in Barcelona, Spain (University of Cambridge CELTA). - Do you belong to any professional organisations? Celta Star (International House Barcelona). Albemarle Independent College (Mayfair, London) - Tell me about some of your current students. I am currently teaching young professionals that want to work or study in Germany and Switzerland Tutoring pupils preparing them for the New GCSE and A level requirements I am teaching - staff at the Deutsche Bank, so that they can communicate with their German clients. - Lawyers, so they can work in Germany as well - pupils at a school so they can excel in their exams - people with German partners so they can talk to their new family - retired people because learning a language is keeping your mind fit and it is fun I am accompanying students as they stay in London and want to immerse in German Culture and Literature -

German Master Class - for those who want to dedicate their time and energy to master German once and for all (half and full day available) German at all levels (Beginners, GCSE, A-level, Business, preparation for German Certificate (Goethe Institute), German for University, German for people who relocate to German speaking countries, German for people who have German partners and in-laws I am also teaching English and Spanish (EFL) at all levels (Beginners - Advanced, first certificate, Business) German and Spanish voice coaching - Tell me about your qualifications. University of Cambridge CELTA Teacher (Level 4 Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). 3 years of study Pedagogy at Pädagogische Hochschule Esslingen - How much do you charge? I charge 35 pounds an hour, booking of 1.5 - 2 hour classes is a requirement. For longer travel, an extra charge can be agreed on. Small groups can get a discount. Students who book blocks of lessons (10, 20, 30, ...) get a discount - Where do you teach? I am teaching in the Greater London area, South-West London, West London, Hammersmith, Putney. I can travel up to 20 miles outside London. I have a car and I am therefore flexible. - When are you available? I have maximum flexibility, early morning, morning, afternoon, evening, I am working also at weekends in the morning. - Which ages and levels do you teach? German I teach all levels and all ages. English I teach up to advanced and all ages Spanish I teach up to advanced and all ages - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for? all levels and qualifications in German, including the Goethe German Certificate - Describe your arrangements for online tutoring. I do my tuition online via SKYPE. I have long experience with ways of doing online classes which are enjoyable and effective. I also accept emails for correspondence. Also, phone conversation classes are available. - Do you have a personal message for students? My motivation and my passion are modern languages. When I learned Spanish, suddenly a whole continent could talk to me and I could understand a whole continent. Learning a language is exploring your limits and leaving them behind. That is why I am simply creating a learning environment and motivation, where true learning can take place. Efficient and communicative teaching of meaningful language, essential grammar, and relevant context will lead to your progress and competent use of German, English or Spanish.
