About Andrea

Welcome to my profile!

I am an enthusiastic and experienced Italian language teacher, specialising in learners of all levels, from school pupils to adults.

I previously worked as a university lecturer for seven years and, since 2018, I have focused on teaching Italian full-time. I help students develop confidence and accuracy in speaking, listening, reading and writing, with lessons tailored to their individual needs and goals.

I regularly support learners preparing for key exams, including GCSE/National 5, A-Level/Higher and IB Italian, across boards including AQA, Edexcel and SQA. My teaching combines clear grammar explanations, targeted vocabulary, exam-style tasks and constructive feedback, helping students understand what they need to improve and how to do it.

Alongside exam preparation, I work with professionals and adult learners who want to improve their Italian for work, travel or personal interest. I adapt the content, pace and level of the course to each learner, with flexible scheduling to fit around busy lives.

# Personalised learning

Every learner is different, so I tailor lessons to your level, goals and individual needs. Whether you are preparing for an exam, improving your Italian for work or travel, or developing your confidence in conversation, I adapt the content and pace to suit you.

# Assessment and goal setting

We begin with a simple assessment of your current level, using conversation and, where appropriate, a short reading exercise. This helps me identify your strengths and the areas that need attention. We then establish clear and realistic goals, particularly useful for GCSE and A-Level students, and review your progress as we go.

# Feedback and support

I provide regular, constructive feedback so that you know what you are doing well and what to work on next. Homework is an important part of the learning process when appropriate, and I review submitted work carefully and use it to guide future lessons.

# A balanced approach

Lessons can combine several areas, depending on your needs:

**Speaking & Listening** – building confidence, fluency, pronunciation and comprehension.

**Grammar & Vocabulary** – developing accuracy and a secure understanding of how Italian works.

**Reading & Writing** – improving comprehension, expression and written accuracy.

**Exam Practice** – for GCSE, A-Level, IB and other qualifications, including exam-style tasks, past papers and targeted exam technique.

My aim is to make every lesson focused, useful and enjoyable, while helping you make steady, sustainable progress.

He is very structured and prepared, we know what is to be discussed and improved upon. We meet weekly for 90mins and typically have an hour homework. My German has improved immensely, I am now reading german Novels and Newspapers, something I would have struggled with before we met. I would highly recommend Andrea
